The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the Chandigarh Engineering College, Landran (Mohali) offering 4 years B.Tech program and 2 year M.Tech program in Computer Science and Engineering and M.Tech in System Software, was formed in the year 2002. The Department has been accredited by NBA for 5 years.

The primary objective of the department is to provide knowledge of modern computing systems as well as sound theoretical background to meet evolving needs of students so as to bridge the gap between the academia and corporate sector. Also the department aims at cultivating qualities like leadership, teamwork, self confidence, good communication skills among its students. The department is committed to insure lifelong learning attitude among its students.
The dynamic team of Computer Science and Engineering Department is working with a sense of responsibility and dedication to excel and achieve success in this era of Computer Science and take the department to new heights.

DEPARTMENT'S STRENGTHS
●  Students have been achieving excellent results with merits in PTU examinations.
●  The Department has a very good placement record with most of its placement eligible students are placed in various MNCs through a number of campus placement drives.
●  The department has well qualified and experienced faculty.
●  Unique TEACHING LEARNING PROCESS followed by the department is one of our major strengths. The faculty uses modern teaching aids such as MM / DLP/OHP Transparencies and students are provided with semester handbooks and lab manuals and additional course material.
●  Web Based and Video Courses purchased from IIT, Chennai under NTPEL Project are available for students for online teaching.   
●  The department has more than 350 high end PCs running Microsoft Windows 2k/XP as well as Linux.
●  24 Hrs 60 Mbps (1:1) Internet is available for the use of faculty and students.
●  The entire computer labs are connected by a high-speed (10/100/1000 Mbps) switched Ethernet network.
●  Many software packages and environments are available on the servers including Oracle RDBMS, Java compiler and applet viewer, C++ compilers, ATM NetSim and Lisp interpreters.
●  The final year B.Tech students are provided with dedicated Research and Development Lab having high end IBM Pentium IV desktops for their final year dissertations, which are amply supported, by additional peripherals and hardware.
●  R & D cell of the department constituting of faculty and students have been providing consultancy to various government and private institutes.
●  The faculty and the students have been actively involved in research and no. of papers has been published in national as well as international conferences/journals.
●  The Department has Faculty and Student Chapter of Computer Society of India.
●  The Department has club name Phoenix which has students as well as faculty as its members. The club is engaged in conducting various technical and non - technical events in the college. The department cub organizes PARIVARTAN, a 2 days Techno- cultural event and national as well as international workshops various expert lectures by renowned academicians.
